Work Accolades

A company that we work with–and that I engage with on Facebook and Twitter–awarded me the first ever Fan of the Week title. I know it says iPROMOTEu, but that’s really me. Because I manage all of the social media for our company; I’m learning and adjusting as I go. I hope you don’t mind that I’m tooting my own horn here, but it feels good that someone else notices my effort. And I couldn’t think of a better way to share the news than posting to my little blog where I say whatever I want and a few people read it.

Maybe I struggled at first, as should be expected with a new job, but I’m getting the hang of things ’round here. I think I like being IPU’s marketing and communication coordinator. I think I like it a lot, actually.

Reasons To Smile

Things I’m Really Excited About:

  • The cobb salad and french onion soup I’m about to make myself for dinner–yum yum yummy
  • The robin eggs I’ll eat right after said soup and salad
  • Derek coming to visit Thursday and Friday night
  • Friday night dinner in Connecticut with family (and Derek too!)
  • REBECCA’S VISIT!
  • A short work week after Rebecca’s visit
  • The 5k run I committed to at the end of April

Over the Weekend

I spent the weekend in Connecticut; Aunty S and Uncle B asked me to puppy-sit so they could go away for the night. It turns out the Inn they stayed at was only 5 minutes away from my apartment so it’s almost like we house swapped. But if we really had house swapped, they would have got the short-end of the deal. Their house has cable, plenty of food and a comfy bed for me to sleep on. My apartment has none of the above.

I drove down Friday after work. It was like old-times when I used to live there and would spend an hour and half in the car commuting to and from work. I met them for dinner and drinks at some of the places I used to visit often, but hadn’t been in months. It was nice. I had a tasty taco salad and then later a delish glass of wine. And the wine bar had Jameson/Bailey’s cupcakes on display so I took one home to enjoy. Mmm…

They left Saturday morning and I hung out with my puppy cousins Reny and Otis. We walked. We napped. We watched a Sex and the City marathon. It was a wonderfully lazy day.

Sunday was not quite as nice. Dogs woke me up at 6 and then again at 8. I fully intended to make myself a cup of coffee and start the day when I let them out at 8, but I accidently locked myself out of the house. Big sigh. I checked all the windows and doors, and I was definitely locked out. There was nothing I could do but wait for them to get home–which they did at 11:30. What a freaking waste of a morning!

I helped with some dinner prep and then ran a few errands before coming back to the house for a mini-Thanksgiving-in-March. Gram and Gramps came and so did Uncle B’s sister Deb. On real Thanksgiving, Aunty S ended up with two turkeys and didn’t have occasion to cook up the second one until this weekend. So they all dined on turkey and I enjoyed a plate full of side dishes, just like Thanksgiving in November.

Despite the lock-out incident it was a great weekend. I love being with my family. They’re funny and loving and just easy to be around.

On a different note, I’m sorry about my lack of posts in the last couple months. My blog is having an identity crisis. I started it as a way to document my move. And now I’m moved. So I’m not sure what direction to take it in. But you can help, loved one. Leave me a comment and tell me what do you want to read about.

I will tell you that in less than 2 weeks my bestie will be here in Mass with me and we’re going to have a touristy, shopping-filled, whirlwind tour of New England. You’ll probably hear from me again before then, but just in case, now you have something to look forward to.

Until next time,

A

A Germ Ball With a Ponytail

I only worked half of this week. The rest of the time I was here:

watching 30 Rock and popping Vitamin C pills like they were Robin Eggs. I had a cold. And it was not fun. Especially because Derek did an awesome job taking care of me on Sunday and then the rest of the week I was all alone and I had to take care of myself.

But yesterday afternoon I realized I was starting to feel  better because I no longer wanted to be on the couch. Or even in my apartment. I had had enough and I was bored. My cough is lingering, but mostly, I’m just fine now. And the best news is… it’s already Friday. The week flies by when you sleep through it.

Derek will be with me this weekend—and part of next week too since he’s on Spring Break. No big plans tomorrow, but I made him promise to get me out of my apartment for part of the day. And at lunch a co-worker invited us to the Boston Museum of Science, so that could turn into a good plan. Sunday I invited my family over for dinner. Derek is the only person who has been in my apartment since move-in day so I thought it would be nice to have company. And I miss spending time with Aunty Sharon, Uncle B and the grandparents. It promises to be a great weekend! And I may even get a pet!!

What do you have planned? If you’re not busy Sunday, come over for dinner. We might play Balderdash or Skip-Bo. And I’m a great cook. You don’t want to miss it.

Love,

A

Crazy Eyes

My co-worker just told me that I look better.

Me- “Better than what?” (I haven’t been ill.)

Her- “You look more calm. The last few days you’ve had a crazy look in your eyes.”

I guess it’s been a stressful week. Good thing Friday is right around the corner.
